Adams V 474; Mortimer, French Books 538; Baudrier XII, 345 Anm. - Reich illustriert mit den meisterhaften Holzschnitten der von Sebastian Brant herausgegebenen Straßburger Grüninger-Ausgabe von 1502. "Grüninger's artist applied to the work a skilled hand and a lively imagination... one of the most lavishly illustrated of classical texts" (Mortimer). Die Holzschnitte waren nach dem Druck von Thomas Murners deutscher Aeneis-Ausgabe von 1515 nach Lyon gelangt und wurden dort erstmals in der Ausgabe von J. Sacon für C. Hochperg verwendet. - Schwach gebräunt, teilw. wasserrandig oder fleckig, einige kl. Wurmgänge am Schluß, Titel am Innenrand angefasert und mit 2 cm breitem angesetztem Papierstreifen oben und großem hinterlegtem Eckabriß unten (Bordürenverlust). S. CCI-IV mit hinterlegtem Randausriß, 2 S. dort mit etwas Buchstabenverlust; ferner Holzschn. auf S. CCIII unfachmännisch ankoloriert. Letztes Bl. fleckig, mit hs. Anm. und restauriert.

CCI-IV (slight loss of letters), minor colouring to woodcut on pl CCIII. Staining, annotations and repaired tears to last leaf. Bound in recent blindtooled leather to style.
