Houzeau-L. 2407; Kenney 151; vgl. Poggendorff II, 646 u. Zinner 1347 & 1366/67. - Erste in Italien gedruckte Ausgabe dieses Lehrbuchs der Astronomie, selten. Zuerst wohl 1528 in Basel erschienen, der bei Zinner genannte Druck von 1527 wird von VD 16 u.a. nicht bestätigt. Der aus Antwerpen stammende Mathematiker, Astronom und Philologe Joachim Fortius (oder Sterck) van Ringelberg war am Hofe Kaiser Maximilians I. erzogen worden und lehrte an verschiedenen deutschen und französischen Universitäten. "Ringelberg would cover the entire field of knowledge in lectures during a stay of a month or two in a town... his brief and cursory mode of presentation and instruction satisfied a want or created an appetite" (Thorndike V, 152). - Bl. 13 kl. Fehlstelle (kein Textverlust) im w. Rand durch Papierfehler.


First edition to be printed in Italy, scarce. With printer's device on title-page and verso of last leaf, woodcut border around first page of text and one woodcut diagram. - Small marginal defect to leaf 13. 19th cent. half-calf, slightly rubbed.
