Nissen, BBI 1761; Stafleu-C. 10722; Hunt 640. - Erste Ausgabe, gedruckt und koloriert im Züricher Waisenhaus. "Nissen notes that the woodcuts were originally prepared for Leonhart Fuchs' 'De historia stirpium' Basel 1542. The only apparent difference is in the removal of the (printed) plant-names from the old plates and the printing of new ones at the bottom" (H.). - Nur gelegentlich etwas stockfleckig.
First edition, printed and coloured in the Zuric Orphan House. With 2 coloured engr. plates and 100 coloured woodcut plates (47 a/b with an image on both sides, else verso blank). - Some occasional foxing. Contemporary boards, somewhat rubbed, spine recently covered with vellum, front joint split at bottom.
