Die schönen Randleisten mit Abb. von 12 röm. Kaisern zu Pferde, Allegorien der Erdteile, 6 Darst. von Eingeborenen sowie kl. Ansichten von Rom, Amsterdam, Jerusalem, Tunis, Mexico City, Havanna, Pernambuco u. San Salvador. - Guter Abdruck. Gereinigt u. neu aufgeleimt, dabei Bugeinriß unten bis ins Bild restauriert. Bis an die Einfassung beschnitten u. angerändert.
Rare map, magnificently decorated. Second world map by Visscher on Mercator's projection with California as pensinsula. According to the latest research by Schilder & Stopp, this is the last of 7 states dated, the first one known is dated 1637 (not mentioned by Shirley and Hollstein). The last state is more frequently found, and was also included in Visscher's Atlas minor. - Uncol. Good impression. Carefully washed and sized. Restored split at lower centerfold affecting image (up to Rio de la Plata); cut close to neatline and false margins added.
