Unusually large copy of the first edition of this homiletic commentary by Saint Ambrose, fourth-century bishop of Milan, the seventh book to be released from the presses of Johann Schüssler in Ausgburg. 7-line woodcut floral initial on first leaf, coloured in turquoise and brown, other initials in red or blue with green, gold or red penwork, paragraph marks, initial strokes and guide letters mostly in red throughout. - Slight spotting in places, some paper repairs to first and last leaves, larger repair to inner blank margin of penultimate leaf. Bound in recent blindstamped brown calf to old style, cloth box. Slight duplicate stamp of the Vatican library on first and penultimate leaves. Bookplate Bibliotheca Philosophica Hermetica.
