Blackmer 1593; Weber 1122; Thieme/B. XXXI, 433 (St.). - Erste Ausgabe dieses prachtvollen Ansichtenwerkes. - Etwas stockfleckig, Unterlegbll. stärker, 5 auch stark gebräunt. Beide Bände mit großem durchgehendem Wasserrand meist oben im Bund, bei 2 Taf. auch äußere Unterecke betroffen, 1 Taf. mit Schabstelle. Bei den letzten 4 Taf. weiße Unterecke ausgefranst.
First edition, 2 parts in 2 vol.; with all 127 (of these 16 are vignettes to titles resp. subtitles; 27 are double-page) lithographed plates mounted on India paper. "This is Stackelberg's chef-d'oeuvre, and it is regarded by many as the most beautiful book of Greek views" (Blackmer). - Some foxing, stronger to mounts, also browning to 5 of them. Larger waterstain to inner margin of both vol., and smaller one to lower corner of 2 plates. Some fraying to lower corner of last 4 plates, slight abrasion to 1 plate. Bound in contemp. half-cloth, extremities and joints somewhat worn.
