First publ. in 1618 by Jodocus H. with four decorative panels, our copy in its third state from one of the French ed. of the atlas from 1639 onwards. "Shortly after [J.] Hondius' death in 1629 the plate passed into the hands of Henricus, his brother. H. removed the map's decorative borders to facilitate easy fitting into his atlas, and replaced his brother's imprint with that of his own, adding a date of 1631" (B.). - Contemp. col.
