"It may be supposed that the Frankfurt edition is the original and the Amsterdam edition a reimpression 'à la sphère'. The engravings consist of a reproduction of the Prague Medal and a most curious representation of Oedipus and the Sphynx" (Duveen). Vorliegend die zu S. 168 gehörende Tafel nach S. 186 eingebunden. - Leicht fleckig, Ränder etwas wasserfleckig (teilw. bis in den Text). Titel mit gestrichenem Vermerk, vord. Vorsätze mit alten hs. Besitzvermerken.
One of 2 editions of 1664. With engraved title (with printed text verso) and 1 engraved plate (bound in after p. 186 instead of p. 168). - Slight spotting, some marginal waterstaining (partly affecting text), effaced ink note to title. Bound in contemporary vellum, somewhat stained. Old ownership inscriptions to front endpapers.
