Vanini, italienischer Philosoph pantheistischer Richtung, übte heftige Kritik am katholischen Glauben, vor allem zweifelte er die Unsterblichkeit der Seele an. Das Werk wurde sofort unterdrückt, Vanini wurde vier Jahre später verbrannt, nachdem ihm die Zunge herausgerissen worden war. - Leicht gebräunt, äußerer Seitenrand meist leicht wasserfleckig, teilw. bis in den Textrand.
