Schriftkartusche und Segelschiff bzw. unten je 1 Windrose und Skala. Von 6 Platten gedruckt und zusammengesetzt; 69,5:119 cm.

IV (erwähnt, aber irrig als Kopie der Lafrei-Tilmann Karte: "Copia di dimensioni maggiori"). - Äußerst seltene Karte von Oberitalien mit den Gebieten zwischen Genfer See-Pordenone/Venedig und Nizza-Florenz, Brescia und Cremona im Zentrum. Von den 4 Zuständen sind insgesammt 11 Exemplare bekannt. - Mit etwas Plattenton; gereinigt, geglättet und verstärkt, tlw. noch etwas fleckig. Randläsuren und an den ehemaligen Faltstellen Löchlein, Einrisse sowie dünne Papierstellen hinterlegt. Oben links im Kopftitel abgeschnittener Stempel (unleserlich) und unten im Bildrand kl. gelöschter Stempel.

Exceedingly scarce map of upper Italy covering the area between Lake Geneva-Venice and Nice-Florence, Brescia and Cremona at centre. Third state (of 4) of the "supposedly published map of 1559" (Karrow); our copy in the second edition by Valegio with ship added at right. "La mitica carta della Lombardia di Giacomo Gastaldi è conosciuta oggi solo attraverso le ristampe successive... Se nessun esemplare completo della carta originale è conosciuto, sono altresì rarissime le ristampe" (Bifolco/Ronca). According to them there are, of the 4 recorded states, altogether 11 known copies. - 6 sheets, joined; uncol. Somewhat toned; cleaned, smoothed and reinforced, still some spotting in places. Restorations resp. repairs to marginal tears, and to some small holes, flaws and tears at former foldings. Remnants of stamp at top left affecting title and erased stamp at lower margin affecting image (both not legible).
