Erstmals 1574 erschienen, es folgten weitere Ausgaben mit Datierungen zwischen 1596 und 1700 mit nur geänderten oder hinzugesetzten Adressen von S. Pinargenti, A. Bertelli, F. Valegio und S. Scolari. Vorliegend im 7. Zustand (von 8). - Mit Wasserzeichen: Krone über Buchstaben 'BT'. - Stellenweise leicht fleckig, Bugfalte stärker bzw. leimschattig und angestaubt sowie mit wenigen kl. rep. Löchlein bzw. kl. Rissen.

Scarce map of the region of Verona and Lago di Garda after Bernardo Brognolo (also Brognoli or Brugnoli/o) in its 7th state (of 8), "è la prima carta a stampa della provincia" (P.) and "senza proprio titolo, che riguarda 'Il Veronese e il Trentino Centro-Meridionale'" (T. p. 14), which served nearly for a century as a model, used by Ortelius (Meurer: since 1575), Magini, Blaeu et al. "Questa carta... occupa un posto di particolare considerazione nel novero della cartografia locale, grazie alla loro ricchezza di informazioni e fedeltà al reale" (T. p. 15). The most comprehensive listing of editions and states is given by Bifolco/Ronca and Dr. Hellwig, Bonn: 1. by Forlani 1574 (in Brit. Mus.); 2. by Pinargenti after Almagià (copy unknown); 3. by A. Bertelli (copy in Venice, Mus. Correr, and our sale 135 no. 4315); 4.-6. three editions by F. Valegio; 7. by S. Scolari like our copy, still with date 1612 and Valegio's name (in Brit. Mus.); 8. With the signature of Valegio and Scolari and the clearly retouched date of "MDCC" (our sale 159, no. 3082; the latter of course is particular, as Scolari died in 1657, and neither such late issues are so far known nor the whereabouts of the plate). - With watermark: crown with letters 'TB'  (s. Woodward 282: Scolaris's map of Dalamtia). -
Uncol. Light spotting in places, stronger to centerfold. Centerfold with discolouration from paste, somewhat dusted and with a few small repaired holes and tears.
