Extremely Rare Map of the "Cusanus Type"

MNL VI, 30. - Äußerst seltene Karte im "Cusanus-Typus" (Meurer), die Mittel- bzw. Osteuropa zwischen Rhein, Ostsee und Schwarzem Meer zeigt, Polen und Deutschland im Zentrum. Sie basiert "auf einer verlorenen Karte Mitteleuropas von Nikolaus von Cues...  und hat eine grundlegende Bedeutung für die Geschichte der Kartographie der polnischen Länder, denn es handelt sich bei ihr um die erste gedruckte Karte mit den Namen Polonia und Lithuania im Titel" (I. P. zur Ausgabe von Beneventanus-Wapowski). - Bug etwas leimschattig, Ränder teilw. leicht wasser- bzw. braunfleckig. Kl. geplatzte Quetschfalte oben links im Titel mit Klebeband hinterklebt; kl. Plattenschaden unten.

Extremely rare and important map for the cartographic history of Poland, depicting Central resp. Eastern Europe. Based on the lost map by Cusanus (or Cues) and copied after the one by Beneventano-Wapowski of 1507, which was the first printed map bearing the words 'Poloniae & Lithuaniae' in the title. - Uncol. Some discolouration from paste at centerfold, light marginal spotting and waterstaining in places. Small tear at top left repaired with adhesive tape (affecting title); small crack to plate at bottom.
