Ortelius 1598-1998). - Sehr seltene und dekorative Karte, die in nur 4 Atlas-Ausgaben erschienen ist. Erster Zustand aus der italienischen Ausgabe 1608; die Widmung noch nicht überklebt. Ersetzte ab 1606 die Karte "Anglia Regnum". - Gereinigt u. stabilisiert, noch gering gebräunt bzw. fleckig. Seitl. bis an/in die Einfassung u. angerändert, kl. Verluste sorgfältig nachgezeichnet.

Rare map published only in 4 atlas editions from 1606 onwards. "An exceptionally fine map of England, Wales and Ireland... The engraving, suggested to be by the brothers Arsenius, is of the highest standard with artistically placed sea monsters, galleons, a mermaid, Neptune, and other decorative features" (Sh.). From the Italian ed. 1608, first state, with the dedication to James I. not pasted over. - Col. in full. Cleaned and sized, still minor browning resp. spotting. Cut to/into neatline at sides and remargined, small losses carefully replaced in mss.
