Großbritannien. "Magnae Britanniae et Hiberniae tabula". Kupferstich-Karte (von J. Hondius jr.) bei W. Blaeu, Amsterdam, (1629-31). Mit 4 ornament.-fig. Kartuschen (1 mit kl. Nebenkarte) und maritimer Staffage, eingefasst von 4 Randleisten mit 12 Stadtansichten, 10 Trachtenpaaren, 4 Wappen und 2 Porträts. 46,5:55 cm.

Shirley I, 422 u. 411 (ohne Rückentext), s. a. 390 (EA von J. H. jr.); Schilder/Stopp, MCN VI, 86.2; Koeman II, 5000:2.1. - Seltene, schöne Randleistenkarte im 2. Zustand mit den Bordüren, es folgte noch 1 Ausgabe ohne; erstmals um 1625 mit Jodocus Hondius jr. Adresse erschienen. Hier aus der latein. Atlas-Ausgabe von 1631 auf Fol. 7 K. - Gereinigt u. stabilisiert, stellenweise noch etwas fleckig, kl. hs. Notiz in Tinte rechts. Bug geplatzt mit kl. Ausriss unten restauriert u. nachgezeichnet; bis an/in die Einfassung beschnitten u. angerändert, Einfassungslinie oben rechts nachgez.

Scarce map of the British Isles with decorative borders in its second state, first publ. by J. Hondius Jr. before 1625. "Blaeu's imprint has been substituted for that of Hondius but all other features are unchanged" (Sh., p. 149). From the Latin atlas-edition 1631 with pag. 7 K. The illustrations are mainly based upon Speed and show 5 costumed pairs at either side, at top and bottom altogether 2 portraits, 4 armorial shields and views of Bristol, Cambridge, Canterbury, Chester, Dublin, Edinburgh, Galway, London, Newcastle, Norwich, Oxford, and York, besides London and Edinburgh all bird's eye-views. - Uncol. Cleaned and sized, still some spotting in places, small ink note at right. Restorations to split through centerfold with small loss at bottom supplied in mss.; cut to/into neatline and remargined with supply of outer neatline at top right.
