Biel war Domprediger zu Mainz, Probst am Kollegiatsstift zu Urach und letztlich Professor in Tübingen. - Teilweise etwas gebräunt und fleckig, zu Beginn stärker; wenige Wurmlöcher, zahlr. Fehlstellen im weißen Rand hinterlegt oder verstärkt, wenige mit Textverlust, die ersten 4 Bll. mit größeren ergänzten Eckabrissen, die ersten 8 Bll. u. weitere im Bund verstärkt; 1 Bl. im Inhaltsverzeichnis mit Einriss im Text, wenige Farbverwischungen; einige hs. Marginalien von alter Hand, alter Stempel der Gymnasialbibliothek zu Köln mit Dublettenstempel; hs. Vermerk des Klosters St. Martin zu Köln auf dem ersten Bl. u. Stempel "Gerschels Antiquariat Stuttgart" auf dem Vorsatz.

Unauthorized first edition of the lecture on the canon of mass held in Tübingen, central work by Gabriel Biel (born 1425 in Speyer, died 1495), who is considered to be "the last scholastic". Biel was cathedral preacher in Mainz, provost at the collegiate foundation in Urach and finally professor in Tübingen. - Some browning and spotting in places; stronger in the beginning; some minor worming, many leaves strengthened to margins, few with loss of text; some loss of paper to margins and corners of the first 4 leaves, restored or strengthened; first 8 leaves and some more strengthened to inner margin; 1 leaf of contents with inner tear affecting the text; some colour blurring; some old ms. annotations to margins; old stamp with duplicate-stamp; old ms. note of the St. Martin monastery in Cologne to first leaf; stamp "Gerschels Antiquariat Stuttgart" to endpaper.
