"The first postal working map, issued in 1903, formed the basis for the first edition of the Postal atlas which was issued in 1907. The maps for the present edition were prepared by Monsieur Jacot Guillarmod" (Ph.-LeGear). Jacot-Guillarmod, Schweizer Topograph und Kartograph, war von 1916-22 als Lehrer für Geodäsie und Topographie an der Militärschule für Vermessung in Peking tätig. - Gering gebräunt, Ränder teilw. etwas wasserfleckig, anfangs u. am Ende stärker. Ktn. 8-10 seitlich mit kl. Fraßlöchern (bis in die Einfassung). Vortitel mit hs. Kaufvermerk in französ. Sprache, datiert Peking 1924, 4 Ktn. im w. Oberrand mit hs. Reisevermerk.

Rare second edition of the official Chinese Postal Atlas. With double-page index map and 46 (36 double-page) province maps, all printed in colour lithography. - Minor browning; marginal waterstaining in places, heavier at beginning and end. Maps 8-10 with feeding holes at sides (affecting border). Bound in original publisher’s cloth, somewhat rubbed and waterstained, cover heavily browned and torn. Mss. purchase note to half-title dated Beijing 1924, upper margin of 4 maps with note about visit, also dated 1924.
