Adams H 850; Mortimer 315; Landwehr VI, 387; Praz 374. - Erste Ausgabe bei Kerver mit griechisch-lateinischem Text. Die Holzschnittfolge war erstmals 1543 bei Kerver erschienen. "Kerver was the first to commission the emblematic woodcuts and to print the Horapollo text itself in form of an emblem book" (Mortimer 314). Der Holzschnitt auf F8r ist über Kopf abgedruckt, der Holzschnitt auf G7v montiert (wie bei Mortimer). - Teilw. fleckig bzw. fingerfleckig, vereinzelte Feuchtigkeitsränder, wenige alte Anmerkungen, Titel stärker fleckig. Letztes vorhandenes Blatt mit kleinem hinterlegten Loch, es fehlt das letzte Blatt mit Kervers Druckermarke verso.

The first illustrated ed. with text in Latin and Greek, with 195 woodcuts. The cut on F8r is printed upside down, the cut on G4v is mounted (it does not cover a printed cut but simply a space left blank in printing). - Some spotting, thumbing and dampmarking, heavier spotting to title, few old annotations, small marginal restoration to last present leaf, lacking the last leaf with printer's device. 19th cent half morocco, spine gilt, corners bumped.
