Shirley 573 mit Abb. Tafel 395. - Sehr seltene u. ungewöhnliche Weltkarte mit zahlr. detaillierten Zahlenangaben für die Berechnung von Längengraden u.a. - Gering fleckig, je 1 schwacher Wasserfleck in den weißen Oberecken. Kl. Querriss oben im Bildrand.

Scarce and uncommon world map "on Mercator's projection with detailed recording of the day's length according to the sun's zodiacal position, thus allowing (in theory) a means of calculating degrees of longitude. Reference is made to this on the map: L'on trouve sur les paralleles ou degrés de latitude... demonstrer les longitudes" (Sh., p. 567). With California as an island. - Contemp. col. in outline; title at top printed from separate plate and joined. Minor spotting in places, slight water stain to upper blank corners. Small tear at top of map.
