Die jeweiligen Bll. auch einzeln hrsg. und mit eigenständiger Titelleiste (ca. 6 cm hoch) versehen, die beim Zusammensetzten entfallen würde (Gesamtgröße je ca. 70:102-113 cm). Kalifornien jeweils als Insel eingezeichnet. Die Karten mit folgenden Haupttiteln: 1. "Carte universelle du Monde vulgairment dite la Mappemonde... 1679". 2 Bll. seitlich mit kl. Randausrissen bis knapp in das Bild. - 2. "L'Afrique... 1678". - 3. "L'Amerique... avec les Routes... pour les Indes Occidentales... 1679". - 4. "L'Asie... 1676". Das rechte obere Bl. mit Randeinriss oben bis in die Legende. - 5. "L'Europe... 1677". - Gering gebräunt u. stellenweise leicht fleckig, Büge tlw. etwas leimschattig und mit kl. Einrissen unten.

Exceedingly scarce and complete set of wall maps by Pierre Duval; first state, only the world map in the second state (of 3) with date changed and a few additions to main title. "In 1679 he published four sheet maps of the world and four continents on Mercator's projection. All were designed with individual titles so that they could be viewed indipendently or when these were removed they could be pasted together to form a large wall map. Each sheet also bears descriptive text along the outside border" (Burden, p. 148). Partly with marked routes resp. tracks, one of them "an anonymous attempt in 1665 to find a route to China and Japan through Hudson's Bay and beyond" (Shirley, p. 501). - 5 maps in altogether 20 sheets, not joined. Original col. in outline to maps, titles uncol. Minor browning and light spotting in places, somewhat stronger at centerfolds, there small tears at bottom just affecting image. World: 2 sheets cut just into image at lower sides. Asia: tear to upper right sheet affecting legend.
