Franciscus Philelphus; 1398-1481), italienischer Gelehrter und Humanist der Renaissance, wurde 1453 in Rom zum poeta laureatus gekrönt. - Fast durchgehend in den Rändern etwas wasserrandig. Im ersten Drittel einzelnes Wurmloch im unteren weißen Rand. Obere Außenecken der ersten Bll. abgenagt. Bl. a2 im unteren Rand ca. 6 cm angerändert mit geringem Buchstabenverlust, Bll. a7 u. a8 mit geklebtem Randeinriss, Bl. h2 mit kl. Randeinriss, Bl. u1 mit kl. Loch im oberen weißen Rand, Schlussbl. im Bundsteg eingerissen u. mit Eckabriss unten (ohne Textverlust). Wenige Bll. etwas fleckig. Fehlt das 1. leere Blatt. First dated edition, probably the second ever. With many initials alternating in red and blue. - Some marginal watermarking almost throughout. Single small wormhole to lower white margin of the first third of body of the book. Upper outer corners of the first leaves gnawed off. Missing lower white margin of sheet a2 replaced by similar old paper with minor loss of letters, closed marginal tear to leaves a7 and a8, small marginal tear to leaf h2, small marginal hole to leaf u1, tears to inner gutter and loss of outer lower corner (without loss of text) of last leaf. Lacking the first blank leaf. Bound in full-leather of 17th century, spine gilt, rubbed, head of spine chipped.
