Scarce map only published in the second and last edition of de Jode's atlas with "Fol. 12" on verso. Representing "the first map devoted to the west and north-west coasts of North America" (B.). Adorned with imaginary creatures (maritime unicorn & sea monster) and intensive legends. Depicting the American Northwest with Bering Strait, Alaska, 'Polus Magnetis (&) El Streto de Anian', "together with fictitious tribes and kingdoms of the region" (G.). "The map combines the fantasies with the geographical knowledge of the day" (H.). - Col. in full. Cleaned and sized, still light spotting in places.
