PMM 389; Horblit 32; Norman F33; Grinstein 227. - Erste Ausgabe. "Although not published until 1900 'The Interpretation of Dreams' was virtually complete in all essentials at the beginning of 1896. Extending the wish-fulfillment nature of day-dreams to night-dreams, Freud differentiated the two kinds of wish: those in day-dreams being open and conscious, while the less pleasant subjects were repressed, to be released from the sub-conscious only in sleep ... This is unquestionably Freud's greatest single work. It contains all the basic components of psychoanalytic theory and practice: the erotic nature of dreams, the 'oedipus complex', the libido, and the rest; all related to the background of the 'unconscious', later to be called the 'sub-conscious'" (PMM). - Seitlich u. unten unbeschnitten. Gering gebräunt.
First edition. - Partly uncut. Slight browning. Contemporary cloth, rubbed; original wrappers bound in.
