Beide Briefe an den Mathematiker und Physiker Vincenzo Viviani (1622-1703). - I: "In this extremely interesting letter, Marchetti reports that his edition of Galileo's 'De resistentia solidorum' is almost in press; the book was published the following year ... He also refers to Viviani's work relating to the same treatise, diplomatically contrasting such 'excellent compositions' to his own 'sterile talento' and the 'aborti' of his pen. Marchetti's expressed hope that his colleague might find his edition of value was fulfilled when Viviani used the work in his defense of Galileo ...
