"Das bedeutendste seiner Werke. Auch heute noch besitzt dies Missionswerk seine ganze, volle Bedeutung. In ihm hat er die Grundsätze einer gesunden, besonnenen Missionsmethodik und - fügen wir es bei - einer christlichen Kolonialpolitik niedergelegt" (Streit 167 zur EA., sehr ausführl.). "This is one of the most celebrated early works on America. It is especially important for its particulars concerning the state of South America at that time, and the early history of the Indians of Peru and Mexico" (Cox II, 255). Acosta war 17 Jahre in Amerika, davon 1571-76 als Missionar in Peru, später über zwei Jahre in Mexiko. - Gebräunt, teilw. etwas fleckig, stellenweise kleinere Wurmspuren im unteren weißen Rand.
