Nahezu vollständiges Exemplar; es fehlen lediglich die 5 zusätzlichen Karten und Pläne, die Phillips erwähnt, welche die Indices unseres Exemplars jedoch nicht auflisten. Bd. 1 behandelt Nordamerika und Karibik (Karten num. 1-102), Bd. 2 Südamerika (1-89 u. 39*), Bd. 3 Asien/Afrika (1-124 u. 92*), Bd. 4 Europa (1-128) und Bd. 5 Frankreich (1-132). Mit Weltkarte (dreimal wiederholt), See- und Küstenkarten, Hafenplänen etc., nur die Küsten u. Gewässer in Blau koloriert. - Ca. 10 Ktn. teilw. etwas fleckig, ansonsten nur mit leichtem Druckabklatsch. Insgesamt sehr schönes u. dekorativ gebundenes Exemplar.

Complete set of Bellin's maritime atlas, with almost all the maps and plans. Lacking only the 5 additional maps listed by Phillips, but not mentioned in the engraved indices. "Many of the maps are reproductions in reduced size of maps and charts occurring in Bellin's previous atlases. But there is also a large amount of fresh material" (NMM). Vols. 1 and 2 devoted to the Americas, vol. 3 to Asia and Africa, vol. 4 to Europe and vol. 5 to France; including 7 engraved titles, engr. dedication, engr. index leaves, sea charts, plans and world map (the latter in 3 copies). With original blue colouring to coasts and waters. - Only a few maps with some spotting, otherwise just light offsetting here and there. Contemporary calf gilt, edges gilt; spines skilfully restored at head and foot. Overall a very fine, broad-margined copy decoratively bound.
