Rare celestial globe "giving the location of fixed stars according to the record of the celebrated Danish astronomer Johannes Hevelius conforming to the year 1730" (Stevenson); 20 cm diameter made up of 12 engraved gores in contemporary col.; frame with 4 wooden legs and brass meridian (loose), horizon ring covered with printed paper (hardly recognisable). "The fact that his globes were highly prized can be seen from the long period of time that they were commercially available" (Decker-Van der Krogt) - Regrettably in poor condition: overall severe browning, spotting and soiling.
