Porträt u. 210 Textholzschnitten von G. Janssen van Kampen u. A. Nicolai nach G. Ballain. 10 Bll., 218 S., 1 w. Bl., 698 S., 14 Bll. Blindgepr. Schweinsldr. d. Zt. über Holzdeckeln mit 2 Schließen, vordere Schließenhaften fehlen, etwas fleckig u. berieben.
Landwehr (3. A.) 25; vgl. Green 134 (gibt Antwerpen an) u. Baudrier IX, 464; nicht bei Praz. - Häufig aufgelegtes Emblembuch des italienischen Humanisten Andrea Alciati (1492-1550) mit den Kommentaren von Claude Mignaut u. den schönen emblematischen Holzschnitten, darunter botanische Darstellungen (Nr. 198-211) und eine Karte der Toskana (Nr. 133). Das Porträt des Alciati monogrammiert WS. Emblem 62 wie immer ohne Illustration. - Etwas gebräunt, stellenw. gering fleckig, einige S. im Kommentarteil mit kl. Wurmgang im oberen weißen Rand, die ersten u. letzten Lagen mit Wasserfleck. Titel mit altem Besitzeintrag.
Famous emblem book of the great Italian humanist Alciatus with 210 woodcuts (numbered 211, emblem 62 not illustrated), extensive commentary by Claude Mignault and engr. portrait of Alciati. - Some browning throughout, faint staining in places, small worming to upper white margin of some commentary leaves, faint waterstaining to white margins of first gatherings. Old owner's entry to title. Bound in contemp. blindstamped pigskin over wooden boards with 2 clasps, lacking front catches, some rubbing and staining.
