"Seine technischen Studien (über den Bauzustand von St. Peter), vereinigt mit historischen, wurden dann in seinem bedeutendsten literarischen Werk veröffentlicht, welches Alessandro Specchi mit seinen nach F.'s Zeichnungen geschaffenen Stichen schmückte: 'Il Tempio Vaticano etc.'. In demselben Werke veröffentlichte F. auch ein Projekt zur Erweiterung des Petersplatzes, auf das Ende des 18. Jh. Cosimo Morelli zurückkam" (Thieme-B. XII, 171). Stockflecken. Wenige Falttafeln mit kl. Randeinriss. Ohne das lat. Titelblatt, welches wohl nie eingebunden war. Auch der Titel auf dem Rückenschild in Italienisch. Vorsatz mit altem Eintrag in sauberer Druckschrift. Titel u. Vorsätze mit Stempel der ehemaligen Zisterzienserabtei Val-Dieu in Belgien ("Abbatiae Vallis-Dei"), Innendeckel mit deren Exlibris.

His main work, on the history of the Vatican and its buildings. - Only partially slight browning and slight marginal foxing in places. Individual plates with small foxing spots. Few folding plates with short marginal tear. Without the title page in Latin, which was probably never bound in. Also the title on the label to spine in Italian. Front endpaper with old handwritten inscription in neat block letters. Title and front free endpaper with old library stamp, inner cover with old bookplate of the former Cistercian abbey of Val-Dieu. Early 18th century full-calf with label to spine; bumped and rubbed, spine scuffed at top and bottom, upper head of spine partially chipped, covers with later paper pasted on, rubbed.
