(Remboîtage) mit goldgepr. doppelten Deckelfileten u. goldgepr. floralen Eck- u. Mittelstücken auf beiden Deckeln sowie Goldschnitt; angestaubt u. etwas fleckig, Vergoldung teilw. abgerieben, Kapitalbänder u. Vorsätze erneuert, bei dem vorderen Vorsatz unter Verwendung des alten Papiers.

Erste Bll. mit geringen Wurmspuren im Rand. Frontispiz mit Einriss u. kl. Randläsuren, vollständig auf stärkerem Papier aufgezogen, etwas fleckig. Einzelne Einträge von alter Hand. Titel gestempelt. First edition. "The 'Arithmologia', one of Kircher's more curious works, is a veritable gold mine of curiosities: magic formulas, amulets, and symbolic matrices" (Merrill). - Browning and foxing in places. First few leaves with minor worming to outer edges. Frontispiece with tear and small marginal flaws, completely mounted on stronger paper, somewhat stained. Individual notes by old hand. Title stamped. Contemporary limp vellum (remboîtage) with double gilt fillets and gilt floral corner- and centerpieces to both covers, edges gilt; dusty and somewhat stained, gilt partially rubbed, headbands and endpapers renewed, front endpaper reused.
