Mit 73 (statt 74) fein kolorierten Aquatintatafeln. 1 Bl. Hldr. d. Zt. mit 2 goldgepr. Rsch. u. Rückenfileten; berieben, Rücken an Kopf u. Schwanz ergänzt, Vorsätze erneuert.
Nissen, IVB 824. - Erste französische Ausgabe. Sehr selten, für uns sind nur drei Exemplare in Bibliotheken nachzuweisen, teilw. mit max. 26 S. Text. Offenbar ist der vollständige Text nicht erschienen. Die Tafeln 1-33 (erster Teil) mit Darstellungen von Vögeln mit ihren Nestern, die Tafeln 1-40 u. 36a (zweiter Teil) bilden Eier ab. Ein weißes Blatt vorne mit hinterlegtem Ausschnitt und anonymem Eintrag: "Cet exemplaire m'a été donné par l'auteur. Les figures ont été retouchées et sont plus finies que dans les exemplaires ordinaires. Les noms, écrits au crayon, au bas des Planches 34 et 36, sont de la main de Mr. Schinz." - Titel etwas, Tafeln nur gering stockfleckig. Tafeln meist mit hs. Ergänzungen bzw. Korrekturen in Bleistift, wohlmöglich teilw. vom Autor. Es fehlt die Tafel 33 im zweiten Teil. - Provenienz: Sammlung Erich Horstkötter. - Zisska & Kistner 2004; 44I/120.
Very scarce first French edition. With 73 (of 74) finely hand-coloured aquatint plates. Plates num. 1-33 (first part) depicting birds and their nests and Num 1-40 and 36a (second part) showing eggs. One blank leaf at the beginning with backed cut-out and anonymous inscription. - Some foxing to title and only minor foxing to plates. Handwritten additions or corrections in pencil, possibly some by the author, to most plates. Lacking plate 33 in the second part. Contemporary half-calf with 2 gilt labels and gilt fillets to spine; rubbed, head and tail of spine renewed, endpapers renewed.
