Laut TMM in der Erstausgabe (von mindestens 3), mit der Dat. 1776 in beiden Titelkartuschen. Alle außerordentlich dekorativ durch die breite Rocaille-Bordüre mit den histor. oder biblischen Szenen zur Entdeckungsgeschichte, ebenfalls mit zweisprachigem erläuterndem Text. - Gereinigt u. verstärkt, das alte Grenzkolorit teilw. noch sichtbar; etwas angestaubt u. fleckig sowie mit einigen hinterlegten Bruchstellen, Einrissen u. Löchern in den alten Faltstellen. Zahlreiche Randausrisse u. -einrisse ergänzt bzw. rep.; Außenränder mit Papier verstärkt. Weltkarte u. Afrika: 1 bzw. 2 Eckausrisse unten. Europa: Fehlstelle oben mittig im Text u. kl. Eckausriss unten links. Gerollt.

Extremely rare set with bi-lingual wall maps of the world and of the 4 continents by Clouet & Mondhare. According to TMM in its first edition (of minimum 3) with date 1776 and with French and Spanish titles. Attractively decorated with ornamental borders containing 20 vignettes, each with historical or biblical scenes of the main discoveries, the descriptions are bi-lingual too. The fine "Carte generale de la Terre - Mappa Mundi" in 2 hemispheres supported by figures of Atlas and Hercules, surrounded by armillary sphere and 8 smaller planetary systems et al., furthermore with explorer tracks 1525-1709, the latest entry is "Cap de bone esperance fixé par les Observ.ons de 1752". - Uncol. Each map in 4 sheets, joined. Cleaned and strengthened, the former outline col. faded resp. still visible in places; dusty and with some spotting; repairs to some cracks, holes and tears at old foldings affecting image. Repairs to several small marginal tears and splits, some of them replaced; outer margins backed with strong paper. World map and Africa with tear-out to lower corners. Europe: loss of text at top center and small tear-out to lower left corner. Rolled up.
