"Mercator's great world map of 1569 was condensed into double hemispherical form by his son Rumold. The engraving is a model of clarity and neatness. The original map plate was unchanged throughout all this time" (Sh.). From the French edition 1628. - Col.; with the wellknown cracks to plate affecting title and Africa. Some browning and spotting. 2 small worm holes affecting title, 3 crease marks at lower left image; lower blank corners replaced.
