Nürnberg, um 1770. Gr.-fol. (53:33,5 cm). Hldr. d. Zt., defekt, stark beschabt u. abgestoßen, Rücken nur fragmentarisch vorhanden.

Interessanter Sammelatlas vor allem mit Karten und Tafeln der bedeutendsten deutschen Kartographen und Verleger des 18. Jahrhunderts: J. B. Homann (33, fast ausschließlich bereits mit Druckprivileg u. damit um 1730 zu datieren) und Homann Erben (15), A. C. und M. Seutter (zus. 11), T. C. Lotter (3) und Chr. Riegel (2), ferner vertreten die Amsterdamer Verleger J. Danckerts (1) u. N. Visscher in der Ausgabe bei P. Schenck (5). Zu Beginn sind zwei genealogische Darstellungen (Papst bzw. König jeweils mit reicher Chronologie) von T. C. Lotter sowie 8 astronomische Tafeln von J. B. Homann bzw. Homann Erben eingebunden, darunter Mondkarte sowie Karten des nördlichen und südlichen Sternenhimmels. Darauf folgen 2 Weltkarten von J. B. Homann u. Homann Erben, beide zeigen Kalifornien als Halbinsel, letztere datiert 1746, ferner Karte von Europa von J. B. Homann sowie 56 europäische Länder und Gebietskarten, darunter Bretagne, Frankreich, Genua, Gibraltar, Großbritannien, Hollandia, Irland, Italien, Kirchenstaat, Lausanne, Luxemburg, Mailand, Malta-Gozo, Parma, Provence, Savoyen, Schweiz, Sizilien-Sardinien, Spanien und Portugal sowie Venedig ebenfalls von J. B. Homann bzw. Homann Erben; ferner Balearen und Korsika sowie 10 seltene Kantonskarten u.a. von Appenzell, Basel, Bern, Graubünden, Schwyz, Uri und Zürich von A. C. und M. Seutter. Außerdem Spanische Niederlande von J. Danckerts sowie 5 Karten von N. Visscher bei P. Schenck, darunter Brabant, Löwen und Luxemburg. Am Schluss enthalten sind 2 kleinformatigere Karten von Italien und Oberitalien erschienen bei Chr. Riegel. Die Karten stammen aus der 1. und 2. Hälfte des 18. Jahrhunderts, die späteste Kartendatierung ist 1766. Von dem zu Beginn eingebundenen hs. Index, der 60 Ktn. umfasste, ist nur noch ca. 1/3 vorhanden. Ein Meilenzeiger und Karte der Niederlande sind oben nicht mitgezählt, da jeweils nur beschädigtes rechtes Teilstück erhalten. Verso meist 1-2 alte Tintennummerierungen. - Etwas gebräunt u. fleckig, Ränder stellenw. wasserfl. (vor allem oben bzw. in den Oberecken auch bis in das Kartenbild). Mit einigen teils rep. Bug- u. Randläsuren, ca. 10 Taf. u. Ktn. mit langen Einrissen bis in das Kartenbild (darunter auch die 2 Weltktn.), ca. 16 Ktn. mit Knitterfalten vor allem am Bug, 1. genealog. Taf. mit gr. Randausrissen mit Bildverlusten, Europa-Kte. mit Bugdurchriss u. Eckabriss (mit etwas Bildverlust).

Composite atlas with 70 (68 double-page) engraved maps and plates mostly in contemporary colouring (only a few col. in outline) mostly by the famous German 18th century cartographers and publishers J. B. Homann and Homann heirs, A. C. and M. Seutter, T. C. Lotter and Chr. Riegel; furthermore comprising a few maps by the Amsterdam publishers J. Danckerts and N. Visscher (edition by P. Schenck). Included are two genealogical tables (Pope and King, each with detailed chronology) and 8 astronomical plates (i.e. a map of the moon and maps of the northern and southern skies), 2 world maps by J. B. Homann and Homann heirs, both showing California as a peninsula, as well as a map of Europe and 56 maps of European countries and regions (Balearic Islands, Corsica, France, Gibraltar, Great Britain, Hollandia, Ireland, Italy, Lausanne, Luxembourg, Milan, Malta-Gozo, Parma, Savoy, Switzerland and 10 rare cantonal maps, Sicily-Sardinia, Spain and Portugal, Venice). The latest date is 1766. Of the ms. index bound in, only about a third remains. A mileage table and a map of the Netherlands are not counted as only the damaged right-hand sections of each have survived. On the reverse, mostly 1–2 old ink numberings. - Somewhat browned and stained throughout, marginal waterstaining (esp. to upper margin and corners affecting image). With some partly repaired tears to centerfolds and margins, approx. 10 plates and maps with long tears extending into the image (including the 2 world maps), c. 16 maps with creases, 1st genealogical plate with large tear-outs (with losses of image), map of Europe torn through at centerfold and with corner tear-out (with some loss of image). Bound in contemp. half-calf, damaged, rather rubbed and worn, lacking almost complete spine.
