Scarce map of America in its second state (of 6), still with the date of the first one, but here with "Tierra del Fuego" as an island. From the third state onwards (1631-1652) the map was publ. by Visscher, with the Keere imprint removed and altered dates. With an inset map of the North West Passage, decorative figures and portraits, and views of: "Havana - Mexico - Cusco - Pomeiooc urbs Virginiana - Carolina... in Florida - S. Domingo - Phernambuco - Potosi - Cartagena - I. S. Iacobi". "This very rare map is the first single sheet map of America with decorative borders" (B.). - Col. Somewhat toned, vertical fold at right, somewhat undulated. Carefully restored: cleaned and sized, still light spotting in places. Repairs to splits, tears and small losses at centerfold and to borders, right border and neatlines replaced in mss. Remargined.

Interessante, kirchenhistorische Karte in der Art derjenigen von Girolamo Petri, erschienen in seinem L'Orbe Cattolico um 1860. Zeigt das Gebiet zwischen Lake Huron, Quebec und Albany mit zahlr. Gebiets- und Ortseintragungen im kanadischen Raum, in den Staaten hauptsächlich nur Nenung der Provinzen und Diözesen. Exakt und sorgfältig ausgeführt, vermutlich anhand einer Vorlage kopiert und ergänzt; das Pauspapier auf starken Karton aufgezogen, in den Unterecken montiertes Bibliotheksschild und Stempel der dt. Jesuiten. - Leicht gebräunt und fleckig bzw. angestaubt, Ränder stärker.
