Sella war Alpinist und Bergfotograf. Seine Fotografien des Alpenraums waren die ersten dokumentarischen Charakters; die hier vorliegende Fotografie entstand wohl auf der 1899 zusammen mit Douglas Freshfield begangenen Kangchendzönga-Expedition.

Original-photograph. Sella was an alpinist and mountain photographer. His photographs of the Alpine region were the first to be documentary; the photograph here was probably taken during the Kangchenjunga expedition with Douglas Freshfield in 1899. - Some buckling to corners, mount. paper with description to lower margin, blind-stamp of Vittorio Sella to lower right corner.
