Important books from various private collections will be auctioned in this year’s Fall Auctions of Reiss & Sohn in Königstein im Taunus, Germany, which will be held from November 11th to 13th. The auctioneers offer a collection of early editions of the Sachsenspiegel, being the first German law book; rare and early works on food and wine; books relating to the Protestant Reformation, including more than 50 tracts by Martin Luther; works on ophthalmology and ophthalmic optics and on gynaecology and obstetrics; the comprehensive Ernst Jünger-collection of the German publisher Kurt Wolfgang Vincentz, including autographs, first and limited editions, dedication copies, and books from the library of Ernst Jünger; a collection of rare 17th and 18th century books on Italy and the Mediterranean; and more than 80 works relating to the Middle East and the Ottoman Empire.
Two richly illustrated printed catalogues will be published shortly and are available on request (fee). Furthermore, Reiss & Sohn will publish a catalogue offprint comprising the editions of the Sachsenspiegel. The online version of the catalogues, with numerous additional images, will be available approximately mid of October.
