Reiss & Sohn is looking back at a very successful auction season 2017. The total turnover of the specialized book auctioneer was raised by 40% against 2016. With a hammer price of 1,1 Mio. Euro for the first edition of Martin Luther’s “95 Thesen”, which started the protestant reformation in 1517, a German auction record was achieved for a printed book since 1945. Holdings from the succession of the famous German Chancellor Otto von Bismarck doubled its total estimate. In total the auction firm released 5 catalogues with over 6000 lots. 75% of the lots found a new owner. By launching a new and modern website Reiss & Sohn is offering new and more comfortable access to the auction offers for book lovers and buyers. Now Reiss & Sohn is heading for the new auction season. Many interesting and valuable contributions have already been submitted. A special single owner sale “German Literature from Hans Sachs to Thomas Mann” will feature as a highlight in the sales scheduled for may 2018. Further consignments are welcome any time. We look forward to your offers. Since the founding of our firm in 1971 we are a reliable partner for sellers and buyers of antiquarian material.
