Curtis, W. The Botanical Magazine; or Flower-Garden displayed. Bd. 1-18 in 18 Bdn. London 1787-1803. Gr.-8vo (24:15 cm). Mit 692 (1 gefalt.) altkol. Kupfertafeln. Ldr. d. Zt. mit 2 farb. Rsch., etwas berieben, 3 Kapitale gering bestoßen.

Vol. 1-18 in 18 vols. With 692 coloured (1 folded) engraved plates. "The first and most important botanical magazine made up of figures of plants and short description" (Hunt 689). - Fine coloured crisp copy, insignificant staining here and there, exposure to outer margin and lower boards of vol. 2 by burn hole, engraved bookplate of Sir Edward Winnington to some inner boards. Bound in contemp. calf with two coloured spine labels lettered gilt, somewhat rubbed, 3 heads of spine somewhat bumped.

Nissen, BBI 2350; Stafleu-C. 1290; Henrey III, 472. - Die wohl schönste und bekannteste Blumenzeitschrift aller Zeiten. - Hier vorliegend die ersten 18 Bde. mit den Kupfern sehr frisch, ganz wenige Tafeln mit schwachen Flecken, schön koloriert, gest. Exlibris (Sir Edward Winnington) auf einigen Innendeckeln. Bd. 2 unten am Außensteg größeres Brandloch bis nahe an die Darstellung heran.
