Mit 238 teils gefalt. oder doppelblattgr. kol. Kupfertafeln. 232 num. Bll. Tafelerklärungen. Weinrote Maroquinbände d. Zt. mit reicher Rvg. u. Deckelfileten sowie Innenkantenverg. u. Goldschnitt, etwas berieben, 2 Inengelenke gebrochen.
Erste Ausgabe. Fine engraved plates after drawings by Hooker, R.K. Greville, L. Guilding, J. Lindley, and others. Dublicate binding of plates 80-84 in vols 1 and 2. Hooker was editor of Curtis's Botanical Magazine and, in 1841, he was appointed the first full-time director of Kew Gardens. - Light browning, some off-setting in places, some plates trimmed by touching the caption, engr. bookplate to inner covers. Bound in contemp. red morocco, richly gilt, marginal rubbing, 2 inner hinges broken. Fine copy.
