Meerman, G. Origines typographicae. 2 in 1 Bd. Den Haag, Van Dalen (u.a.), 1765. 4to (29:23,5 cm). Mit 2 gest. Porträts, 10 (1 doppelblattgr., 1 gefalt.) Kupfertafeln, 1 Textkupf. u. 1 Falttab.  XI, 260; VIII, 312 S., 1 Bl. Pp. d. 19. Jh. mit rot gelacktem Rücken u. Rtitel, berieben u. bestoßen, Ecken erneuert.

First edition. Important early history of the beginning of printing by the great Dutch incunable collector Gerard Meerman (1722-1771). Still useful on account of the number of original documents quoted and of the engraved facsimiles of early Haarlem types and documents. Bound in contemp. boards, spine red lacquered, somewhat rubbed and worn, corners renewed.

Bigmore-W. II, 32. - Erste Ausgabe. Berühmte Forschung zur Frühgeschichte des Buchdruckes, deren Erfinder nach Meerman Laurentius Coster gewesen sei. Von großem Reiz die 10 gest. Faksimiles, "executed with great care, very curious, and giving a good idea of the types by the printers to whom he makes reference" (B.-W.). Sehr breitrandig u. unbeschnitten. Ohne das häufig fehlende eingefalt. Bl. "Bericht voor den Boekbinder" am Schluß.
