Fifth and last state, with changed name, and the wave-like hatching now retouched; from one of the French editions 1643-1650. "This magnificent map sums up the general European view of the western hemisphere in the early seventeenth century" (Goss). - Contemporary col. Light browning and spotting, stronger to margins. Small loss to upper left image ("St. Domingo") replaced in ms., a few small wormholes and 1 rep. tear at left blank margin.
