Rare wall map of North and Central America. The orignal issue was published in 1755 by Bowen & Gibson, and several, alterated copies resp. issues were published by Sayer; our copy with changed title and in its second issue by Sayer with date "15th Feb. 1777". In the first issue of 10th Jan. of the same year "Pownal's name appears for the first time" (Stevens). The inset-maps show Baffin and Hudson Bays, and California after Kino. - Printed from 4 plates, 2 sheets each joined. Col. in outline. Some browning resp. spotting (mainly due to offsetting); short rep. tear to lower centerfold just affecting image. With 3 old vertical folds each.
