Very rare. "The unfortunate 'Painted Prince' was a richly tattooed man from the Philippines who was kidnapped in the South Seas by the explorer William Dampier circa 1690 who brought him to England in 1691, where he was exhibited in the capital publicly and privately, only to die of smallpox in Oxford the following year" (MPMC). - Uncol. Some browning, spotting and somewhat dusty, some small paper flaws and repairs to small holes and cracks; cut to neatline resp. to descriptive text, small tear-off at right and at lower left corner with minor letter losses; mounted on paper.
