"Nova Europae descriptio". Kupferstich-Karte nach J. Hondius von N. Picart "fecit" (aus P. d'Avity, 1659). Mit 2 figürlichen und ornament. Kartuschen (1 nicht ausgefüllt), Tier- und Schiffsstaffage sowie an 3 Seiten Randleisten: seitl. je 5 Trachtenpaare und oben kl. Vogelschauansichten von Lissabon, Toledo, London, Paris, Rom und Venedig. 41:54,5 cm.

Rare map of Europe with 3 decorative borders in its second and last state, copied in 1644 by Picart after the 1623 map of Hondius-Janssonius. "Nicolas Picart's imprint, postulated to have been in the cartouche at the upper right in the first state, has been erased and left blank. Fol. I. has been added in the upper left corner" (Sch., p. 431), so published by d'Avity in his posthumous ed. of 'Les etats, empires... du monde'. - Uncol. Cleaned and sized, still light occasional spotting. Repairs to a few small tears at old folds; cut to neatline at bottom left and remargined.

Erstmals 1623 bei Hondius-Janssonius erschienen und 1644 von Picart nachgestochen; unser Exemplar im 2. Zustand mit getilgter Adresse in der rechten Kartusche und mit "Fol. I" oben links. - Gereinigt u. stabilisiert, teilw. noch leicht fleckig. In den alten Faltstellen wenige kl. hinterlegte Risse. Links unten bis an die Einfassung beschnitten u. angerändert.
