Another rare satirical map by Hewerdine, Rose & Bacon; a reissue of the famous octpus map of 1877, "with a slightly different design, the Czar's portrait inserted in the centre of the octopus, Germany with Samoa in its grasp and England as a territorial with two inscriptions: "We wish you success" J. McKinley, "But hope ye'll get likked" Irish Democrat" (T.). Original wrapper attached at upper left (soiled; tears to spine). - Light browning and some spotting in places. Some holes and tears to old foldings, a longer one at top repaired.

In das als Krake dargestellte Russland ist ein Porträt von Nikolaus II. eingesetzt. - Leicht gebräunt u. stellenweise etwas fleckig. Die alten Faltstellen teils mit Einrissen und Löchern. OU angestaubt u. fleckig, der Rücken teilw. eingerissen.
