First edition of this important and rare collection of 55 letters and documents dated between 1577 and 1604. The first 636 pages deal with Japan, including 8 reports covering some 400 pages by Frois, other letters on Japan by Cabral, Organtino etc. Valignano is represented with 'Litterae Iaponiae' and 'Admiranda Regni Sinensis'. Some 200 pages are devoted to India ("Mogor") and "Indie Orientalis", mostly ex Goa. Smaller sections on Peru, and the Philippines. It seems that this volume was originally intended as a companion to Nutius' 1605 edition of Maffei's 'Historiarum Indicarum', but no doubt the fact that Hay's collection is complete in itself and led to its separation from an early date. - Slight browning and spotting in places, minor marginal worming to first 60 leaves, stamp to title. Wurde von Nuyts auch als Bd. 2 von Maffeis "Historiarum Indicarum libri XVI." ausgegeben, daher in der Bogensignatur mit "Tom. ij." bezeichnet. - Gering, gegen Ende etwas stärker gebräunt, vereinzelt gering fleckig, bis S. 112 mit kl. Wurmspur im rechten unteren Rand, Titel mit Stempel des Dominikanerkonvernts Tienen.
