First Italian edition, second issue (the first issue appeared in 1577). "Although relating principally to the Portuguese in India, China, and the East Indies, this work contains interesting particulars of the Portuguese conquest of Brazil. The first book is the part most important in American history, as it includes Cabral's voyage and others" (Hill Coll. 184 f.). "Originally published in 1551, it contains a good deal on Portuguese contacts with China" (Lust). - Slight browning, upper margin trimmed, few headlines in vol. 1 shaved, some waterstaining to first and last leaves of vol. 1. The black colouration of the edges extends approximately 0.5–1 cm into the leaf margins. Two older stamps to both titles. Bound in recent cloth using old material.
