Vol. 5-6 in 1 vol. First edition of this German adaption of Edwards and Catesby combined into one work. With 2 engraved title vignettes, 1 engr. frontispieces and 105 fine hand-coloured engraved plates (of which 89 are of birds; 19 of them Parrots). "The plates were re-engraved by Seligmann and some of those by Edwards further embellished by the addition of figures of plants not in the originals" (Zimmer). - Text somewhat browned, plates mostly less affected, some finger-staining to margins, few plates slightly stained within the illustration, large dampstain to plate 66 affecting the image, plate 9 “Woodpecker with three toes” slightly more soiled, edges trimmed and mounted, the accompanying text page with backed tear affecting the text, plate 7 “The golden bird of paradise” remargined at the bottom, otherwise only a few small marginal tears or crease marks. Contemporary half-calf, rubbed and bumped, some abrasions to covers, minor tear to bottom of lower joint.

Im Kern eine Übersetzung von Edwards "A natural history of uncommon birds" und "Gleanings of natural history" sowie Catesbys "Natural History of Carolina" durch G. L. Huth. Die Tafeln, jeweils mit dt., lat. und französ. Text bezeichnet, mit 140 prächtigen Vogeldarstellungen, darunter 19 Papageienarten. 16 Tafeln zeigen außerdem Säugetiere, Fische, Reptilien und Insekten. - Die Textbll. etwas gebräunt, die Tafeln überwiegend weniger betroffen, teilweise im Rand fingerfleckig, wenige Tafeln in der Darstellung etwas fleckig, Tafel 66 mit größerem Wasserfleck mit Bildberührung, Tafel 9 "Specht mit drey Zehen" etwas stärker angeschmutzt, Ränder beschnitten u. aufgezogen sowie das zugehörige Textbl. mit hinterl. Einriss mit Textberührung, Tafel 7 "Der goldene Paradiesvogel" unten angerändert, ansonsten nur vereinzelte kl. Randläsuren oder Knickspuren.
