First edition of this translation. With 64 double-page engraved maps (with text on verso), including the first double-hemispherical world map in an atlas. - Evenly lightly tanned, with slight water stains or brown spots in places in the margins; the third section, ‘Discorso universale’, has a larger water stain and a brown spot that has spread into the margin; old purchase note and a crossed-out owner’s note on the title page; some dust-soiling to verso of final leaf. Bound in contemp. vellum; somewhat stained and warped; vellum cover with a few small tears; small supplementations on the outer corners of the back cover; pastedowns renewed.
